Gangland - Boss Army (Cleveland, OH)

Special edition Gangland, Boss Army of Cleveland, Ohio. Watch one of the hottest, and fastest growing names in the Cleveland entertainment scene as they are featured in this special episode of Gangland. Home to the "Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame," Cleveland is a point of interest to visitors.

Underneath the historic landmarks and busy downtown nightlife, there is a violent, brutal, and vicious way of life within the city itself. With a diverse culture, there are all types of gangs in Cleveland. Some came from other states and started sets here, others were created right in the origin and the heart of Cleveland.

There are tons of gangs and cliques all around the city of Cleveland. With a raising homicide rate nearly up 30% in the last year, its no wonder why the gangs are constantly popping up more often in Cleveland. Sex, drugs, money, and murder are the 4 things that run this city.

Boss Army is a production company that has fine roots in the emotionless streets of Cleveland. Its evident that Boss Army is more then just a production company, but their presence in the streets grown more each day. If there is a major event going on in the underground entertainment scene, 9 times out of 10, Boss Army is tied to that event in some way, shape, or form.

EXCLUSIVE: Hip Hop News Daily Talks To YMCMB’s Latest Family Member, T.Rone- “Hello Love (FU),” About Rock Influences, Signing To YMCMB, & ‘Lust’ Music

I constantly heard this song over and over again, and I was wondering who was the guy singing,

Hello Love!
I know ya deal,
And I know y can get me killed (get me killed).
How dare ya judge, the ways of lust
When you’re the reason that I don’t trust?
F*ck you Love! F*ck you Love!

Welp, after doing some research I was able to determine that it was YMCMB’s latest signee, T.Rone from Jacksonville, FL. The guy’s track is in heavy rotation and Hip Hop News Daily had to hear from him.

In a pretty interesting  interview, the Duval representer tells us his musical influences, his perception of lust, and more. Let me just say this guy has one hell of a vibrant personality…Anyway, take a look at what he said below:

HHND: I understand that you were recently signed to YMCMB. How did that happen?

T. Rone: The song was playing heavy in Miami and Birdman reached out-I flew down to Miami and he liked what he heard and I signed.

HHND: Cool. Now, tell us about the concept of Hello Love (FU). Where did that originate from?

T. Rone: Everybody has said FU love and turn right back around just to say hello again. I left the club one night and went into the studio and the beat dropped. That’s how I was feeling that night.

HHND: With this sound, there are not many people that sound like you, so to speak? What are your influences?

T. Rone: A lot of my influence comes from Rock music-street Rock influences like Kurt Cobain of Nirvana.

HHND: What would you call the type of music do you create?

T. Rone: I don’t put myself in a box- I create lust music.

HHND: What’s lust music?

T. Rone: Too much love music. The industry has lost its’ rawness and there is nothing wrong with lust. There’s a thin line between love and lust and I think its ok to lust. Lust doesn’t have to always be sexual. It can be about life and other things. Lust isn’t always a bad thing.

HHND: Some people have compared you to T-Pain. How do you respond to that?

T. Rone: There’s no comparison. On that song (Hello Love) that’s all me and no auto tune.

HHND: Did T-Pain influence you in any way?

T. Rone: No

HHND: So what are you working on now?

T.Rone: I’m working on a mixtape. It’s called “The Lord of Lust Part 1.” It will be out in the next couple of months.

HHND: Who is on the mixtape?

T. Rone: Right now, 2 Chainz, Juicy J, Fat Joe, Jim Jones, Raheem Devaughn

HHND: Ok cool…we are definitely waiting on that. Thanks for chatting with Hip Hop News Daily.

T. Rone: Cool.

Bits Blog: Nokia’s New Lumia Is an AT&T Exclusive

The Nokia Lumia 920 will be available only at AT&T stores.Ángel Franco/The New York Times The Nokia Lumia 920 will be available only at AT&T stores.

Nokia’s new flagship smartphone, the Lumia 920, will go on the market next month, and in the United States it will be available only on AT&T.

This story is familiar: Last time, AT&T was the only American carrier to sell Nokia’s flagship Lumia 900, which didn’t sell well. So why does AT&T keep getting the goods?

To be fair, the iPhone was initially an exclusive for AT&T. That worked out well for Apple because the carrier, in exchange, aggressively promoted the then-revolutionary smartphone in its stores and ad campaigns to give it a big boost. Later, the iPhone became available on Verizon Wireless, Sprint and many other carriers around the globe to become the best-selling smartphone in the world.

For Nokia, however, the odds are stacked against it. The smartphone market is crowded with iPhones and many popular Android phones. And Nokia’s Lumia phones include a less-popular feature: Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system. Pairing with one carrier won’t give it the same push that Apple got.

Nokia and AT&T have not disclosed a price for the Lumia 920.

Susan Sheehan, a Nokia spokeswoman, said in an interview that the company was glad that AT&T had committed to marketing the Lumia 920 and training retail employees on selling the phone. She hinted that there would be partnerships soon with other carriers but declined to go into detail about what phones the deals would be for.

“We are really excited about the commitment that AT&T is expressing for the 920, and we think that it’s going to be a great launch with them,” she said. “At the same time, there’s a lot of passion and energy from customers across the United States, so we’re looking forward to making other announcements with different operators in the weeks and months to come.”

Nokia very likely gave AT&T the exclusive to get its marketing support, which could make or break the device because people may not have heard of it otherwise, said Jan Dawson, a mobile analyst at Ovum. In addition, the Finnish phone maker has a poor track record for making good phones for CDMA, the technology used by Verizon’s and Sprint’s cell networks, so it’s unlikely those carriers wanted to sell the Lumia 920 at all, Mr. Dawson explained.

With the Lumia 900, Nokia’s previous flagship phone, AT&T backed it with what it called its biggest phone introduction in history, which included giant posters in stores, TV commercials and even a Nicki Minaj concert. After all that, Nokia sold only 600,000 Lumia 900 phones and later cut the price of the smartphone in half.

Apple, on the other hand, recently sold five million  iPhone 5s on the first weekend the model arrived in stores.

PS3 Exclusive Retro/Grade Gets A Release Date

Over three years ago, we first informed you of a PlayStation Network exclusive called Retro/Grade. Under development at 24 Caret Games, Retro/Grade caught the eye of the judges at the Independent Games Festival in 2009, being nominated for two awards before falling off the radar until the next year, when we played it. But since then, all’s been quiet.

That is, until now. Retro/Grade finally has a release date for the PlayStation Network in North America. Look for it on Tuesday, August 21st. It’s release date in other territories is still unknown.

If you’re unfamiliar with Retro/Grade, co-founder of 24 Caret Games, Matt Gilgenbach, describes it like this. “[Retro/Grade is] similar to a classic Shoot ‘Em Up… in reverse! At the beginning of the game you stop a massive alien invasion, but all the destruction damages the space/time continuum, causing the flow of time itself to reverse. What would have been the final boss is actually the beginning of your backwards journey. You must help Rick Rocket restore the continuity of space/time, before the temporal anomaly rips the universe a new time-hole!”

This “mind-bending rhythm-based” game can be played with either a guitar peripheral or your standard PlayStation 3 DualShock controller. Its price, according to Gilgenbach, “hasn’t been quite finalized yet even this close to release.”

Limbo Was Almost a PlayStation Exclusive

In the summer of 2010, the beautiful, ambient game Limbo was released on Xbox Live and received critical acclaim. It came to PlayStation Network and Steam a year later, so just about everyone has had the chance to play it, but Sony itself revealed some information, via Edge, that paints a different could-be picture for Limbo in the years leading up to its release.

At last week’s Develop Conference in the UK, Pete Smith, a Sony producer, spoke about Sony’s pursuit of Limbo and how the deal to get the game exclusively on PSN fell apart over the securing of the game’s rights. “I maybe shouldn’t say this,” Smith said, “but we had issues when we were trying to sign Limbo because of the IP.”

Sony’s insistence on owning the IP meant that developer Playdead went to Xbox Live instead, where the studio retained the rights to the game. Subsequently, the game did gangbusters numbers and only came to PSN when the hullabaloo surrounding the game had died down. Smith noted that, generally, “there are obvious benefits to keeping [an IP], but also to giving it up: you’re way more likely to get the deal. Remember: 100 percent of nothing is nothing. A publisher is much more likely to commit to marketing and merchandising if they own the IP.”

For Sony, consider this instance a lesson learned.
