When it was announced that Darren Wilson, the police officer who shot and killed unarmed Ferguson, Mo., teen Michael Brown, would not be indicted, reactions across the country were loud and clear Monday night (Nov. 24). And that included those from the hip-hop and R&B community as well.

While people took to the streets in protest in New York, Washington, D.C., and Ferguson, artists like Pharrell, Rihanna and Nas hopped onto social media to share their feelings and thoughts about the grand jury’s decision.

In a long awaited announcement on Monday evening, St. Louis County prosecutor Robert McCulloch announced that Officer Wilson would not be indicted for the shooting of Brown in August, which spurred immediate protest, rioting and gunfire in the city of Ferguson.
