Contact Us Lil Boosie is not afraid to speak his mind when it comes to the life and death struggle that people face day to day in New Orleans. In an interview with Peter Bailey for his NiteCap series, the Baton Rouge rhymer discusses several issues related to folks living in the ‘hood. When asked about rappers using violence and prison time as gimmicks to sell records, Boosie quickly denounced that kind of marketing scheme. “They hear ‘Free Boosie’ and see me come home after what I came home in and a lot of people glorified it, and that’s the total wrong thing to do,” he said. “I was fighting the death penalty. What’s cool about that? If 12 jurors woulda said guilty, they’d be frying me.” The conversation got deeper when Bailey asked the ‘Wipe Me Down’ rapper if white supremacy is to blame for the problems African-Americans are facing today. “I feel like African-American is the worst race in the world because, first of all, we kill each other,” he explains. “The White man ain’t waiting in your bushes with a choppa. The White man ain’t trying to take the rims off your car. The White man ain’t… we doin’ this to each other. So how can we say ‘Eff the White man’? He ain’t doin’ nothin’ but when we get in trouble. He doin’ his job.” These remarks are drawing heavy criticisms on Twitter. Some people agree with Boosie’s position while others feel that the rapper is misguided in his viewpoints of African-Americans. You can read some of the heated tweets below.
