They're almost here. The Xbox One and PS4 release this month. Some retailers are already selling PS4 controllers, cameras, and video games. Next-gen fever is in the air.
function frameDim() { this.width = 0; this.height = 0;}var videoDim = videoDim || new frameDim(); videoDim.width = 610; videoDim.height = 344;As the dates SLOWLY get closer, we asked the IGN community on Twitter what next-gen means to them.
Better graphics and tech!With newer consoles comes better graphics. Games like Ryse: Son of Rome and Killzone: Shadow Fall will take advantage of the next-gen console's power and will deliver graphics not possible on previous generations. You can read the exact specs of the PS4 and Xbox One here in our comparison wiki.

Although video games and consoles are the cheapest they've ever been, buying a new console is always a blow to the bank account. The PS4's retail value is $399 while the Xbox One is retailing for $499, and that's just for the console.
@IGN An empty bank account

Because consumers will be dropping a pretty penny for a new console, some want their purchase to be justified with innovation from developers. New ideas, new IPs, and new ways to play are only a few requests some consumers have. With each Xbox One coming with the Kinect 2.0, developers can now find ways to integrate gameplay with that new piece of tech. The PS4's touchpad can bring in new ways to play and tackle a situation in a game.
@IGN One word innovation.
— Big ANT (@MrIGetBuckets11) November 1, 2013
@IGN hopefully new ideas, new IP, new ways to play, and just a sense of new and excitement that had lapsed a little from the old-gen

@IGN Games that play in a way not previously possible.
— The Suffolk Gooner (@SuffolkGooner) November 1, 2013
Better games, right?@IGN innovation. Industry seems stagnant with all the sequels. Bring me something new.
— Greg Eid (@GregEid) November 1, 2013
Whatever console you choose to purchase, this is an exciting time for gamers. New hardware always causes debate, but in the long run it's all about having fun playing video games.
@IGN true happiness.

@IGN What the next gen means to me is the beginning of a new era; a new future, and just the beginning of newer and better beginnings.

@IGN a better way of life for gamers!
