Malcolm X assassin Hagan is freed on parole in NYC
By JENNIFER PELTZ, Associated Press Writer Jennifer Peltz, Associated Press Writer – Tue Apr 27, 8:18 pm ET
NEW YORK — The only man ever to admit involvement in the assassination of Malcolm X was freed on parole Tuesday, 45 years after he helped gun down the civil rights leader.
Thomas Hagan was the last man still serving time in the 1965 killing, part of the skein of violence that wound through the cultural and political upheaval of the 1960s. He was freed from a Manhattan prison where he spent two days a week under a work-release program.
Hagan, 69, has repeatedly expressed sorrow for being one of the gunmen who fired on Malcolm X, killing one of the civil rights era's most polarizing and compelling figures. One of the groups dedicated to Malcolm X's memory condemned Hagan's parole.
Hagan declined to comment after his release.
"I really haven't had any time to gather my thoughts on anything," he told The Associated Press by telephone.
Hagan acknowledged that he was one of three men who shot Malcolm X in front of a crowd of hundreds — including several of his young children — as the civil rights leader began a speech at Harlem's Audubon Ballroom on Feb. 21, 1965. Two other accomplices created a distraction in the audience, Hagan has said.
But he said the two men convicted with him were not involved. They, too, maintained their innocence and were paroled in the 1980s. No one else has ever been charged, a fact that has perpetuated debate and theories surrounding the slaying.
The Manhattan District Attorney's office, which prosecuted Hagan and his co-defendants, declined to comment on Hagan's release or his account of the killing.
Hagan tried 17 times before being approved last month for parole. He had been sentenced to up to life in prison for what he described in a 2008 court filing as the deed of a young man who "acted out of rage on impulse and loyalty" to religious leaders.
The assassins gunned down Malcolm X out of anger at his split with the leadership of the Nation of Islam, the black Muslim movement for which he had once served as a prominent spokesman, said Hagan, then known as Talmadge X Hayer. Malcolm X had spoken out against its leader, Elijah Muhammad, in comments that some of Muhammad's followers denounced as slander.
At the time, "I thought I was fighting for truth and right," Hagan said in a 1977 sworn statement that aimed, unsuccessfully, to get his co-defendants' convictions overturned.
Over the years since the assassination, "I've had a lot of time, a heck of a lot of time, to think about it," Hagan told a parole board last month, according to a transcript of the interview.
"I understand a lot better the dynamics of movements and what can happen inside movements, and conflicts that can come up, but I have deep regrets about my participation in that," said Hagan, adding that he had earned a master's degree in sociology since his conviction. He said he was still a Muslim but no longer a Nation of Islam member.
The Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center, an organization founded by the civil rights leader's late widow, hasn't taken a position on Hagan's parole, board chairman Zead Ramadan said.
"We just don't think it's ours to decide the fate of this man. We allowed the laws of this nation to develop that," Ramadan said.
Members of the Shabazz family didn't immediately respond to a request for comment made through the center.
Another group, the Malcolm X Commemoration Committee, decried Hagan's parole at a press conference earlier this month, saying the crime was too serious to allow for his release.
"(Malcolm X) was and still is an enormous international figure and revolutionary hero," spokesman Zayid Muhammad said in a release. The committee holds essay contests and other events in his memory.
Malcolm X rose to fame as an uncompromising voice for black empowerment who urged African-Americans to claim civil rights "by any means necessary" and called white people "blue-eyed devils." But after breaking with the Nation of Islam in 1964 and making an Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, he began renouncing racial separatism.
After he was killed at 39, a New York Times editorial called him a "twisted man;" Time magazine described him as a demagogue whose "gospel was hatred." But his stature grew after his death with sales of "The Autobiography of Malcolm X," written with Alex Haley, and later with Spike Lee's 1992 film "Malcolm X," said Manning Marable, the director of Columbia University's Center for Contemporary Black History and the author of a forthcoming biography of Malcolm X.
By 1999, Malcolm X was on a postage stamp.
Hagan was initially scheduled for release Wednesday, but the date was moved up because his paperwork was completed, state Department of Correctional Services spokeswoman Linda Foglia said.
Hagan was on work release for nearly 22 years. He spent five days a week working in settings that included a homeless shelter; he spent those nights at his Brooklyn home with his family. He told the parole board he hopes to become a substance abuse counselor.

Game Says Jay Electronica Is His Favorite Emcee Right Now
April 23, 2010 09:04:00 AM CDT by Jake Paine
When Game made his 2004 debut The Documentary, revered by many as a classic album, the Compton, California emcee told the now defunct Elemental magazine that he wrote the album listening to Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt, Dr. Dre's The Chronic, Nas' Illmatic and albums from Snoop Dogg, Kool G. Rap and Notorious B.I.G. These albums were reportedly a recovery gift from brother, Big Fase 100, as Game laid in a hospital bed from near-fatal gunshot wounds.
Speaking with HipHopDX Tuesday evening, the Aftermath rapper was asked what music he's listening to this go-round, as Game records his fourth major label album, R.E.D. He cited several artists who have yet to release an LP as some of his favorite emcees of the moment.
"My favorite emcee right now, in the world, is Jay Electronica. I like what he got to say. I think he's dope, and there's a reason for that. 'Cause he's older and he's polished, and he's been doin' it for a while now. That's definitely the emcee that I'm ridin' to the most. Anything he drop, I'm downloading it, throwin' it in the whip, and it's on." Game also mentioned two younger emcees, leading the new class charge. "I like J. Cole, man. He's pretty dope. Drake, of course, is on everybody's radar, man. The kid, he's nice. Other than that, underground shit. I'm always lookin' - not to sign, but just lookin' for who's next, on a fan-level. I'm tryin' to keep Hip Hop goin', if only in my whip."
With such an awareness of the musical goings-on in Rap, Game was asked if he actively pays attention to weekly store shelves from a fan's perspective. "The shit that's hittin' the shelves every Tuesday, that ain't shit, man. I think the classic albums are the ones that we wait on, and the ones that you look forward to. There's always people who have given you classic albums before, and they're the ones that don't let you down."
As an established emcee embracing the trends and new voices of the culture, Game explained, "Hip Hop is Hip Hop. We all coexist - the dope rappers with the wack ones. The new kids with the skinny jeans and the niggas with the hoodies, we all in it together. I've learned in the last year or so, to not hate any aspect of Hip Hop. To embrace it all. Every time Hip Hop changes - 'cause it's multi-faceted, change with it, but don't lose yaself. You'll find yourself running into less problems and frustrations in your own career."
Game's fourth major label album, R.E.D., is presently due June 15 on Aftermath/Star Trak/Interscope Records.

Lil Wayne Sued By Jim Jonsin Over Royalties
April 23, 2010 11:04:00 AM CDT by Andres Tardi
Lil Wayne is behind bars, currently serving time in New York's Rikers Island, but the lawsuits keep coming his way. After being sued by Karma-Ann Swanepoel for sampling "Once" on "I Feel Like Dying," and Darius "Deezle" Harrison for royalties on "Mrs. Officer," the Young Money star is also being sued by producer Jim Jonsin for royalties from "Lollipop."
According to the New York Post, Jonsin is suing for $500,000. Jonsin is claiming he has yet to receive any royalties for work on one of Lil Wayne's biggest singles.
This isn't the first time Jonsin and Wayne have been involved in a dispute. When Weezy was sued by Swanepoel a year ago, he shifted the blame towards Jonsin for not clearing the sample.

Pepa Speaks On Nicki Minaj In New Interview
April 22, 2010 10:04:00 AM CDT by Danielle Harling
Rap veteran Sandra “Pepa” Denton recently shared her thoughts on up and coming rapper Nicki Minaj in an interview with Vibe Magazine. In the interview, Pepa explained that Nicki Minaj is too young to have music with a message.
"She reminds me of [Lil' Kim]. Bold and you know… she’s young. And a lot of people are like 'Oh what do you feel about her because of the message?', but to me she hasn’t learned the message yet," Pepa shared with Vibe Magazine. "[Salt-n-Pepa are] old in the game, we started out a little raw, so after a little while I’ve learned and changed because my audience changed."
Pepa also revealed that having the backing of an all male crew may be influencing Nicki Minaj’s lyrical content.
“…And what happens when you have a male camp backing you? Yeah, you might be singing those kinds of lyrics," Pepa explained. "That’s what happens when you have a male camp dictating how you should be."
In her interview with Vibe, Pepa, who recently starred in the VH1 reality show Let’s Talk About Pep, hinted at possibly returning for a new reality show. She’s also currently at work in the studio recording Salt-N-Pepa’s next studio album.

Judge Dismisses Notoroius B.I.G. Lawsuit Against Los Angeles
April 22, 2010 11:04:00 AM CDT by Rashad Phillips
On Tuesday April 20, a federal judge dismissed the wrongful death suit filed by the family of The Notorious B.I.G. against the city of Los Angeles. In April of 2002, the family of Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace filed the suit against then LAPD Police Chief Bernard Parks on the grounds that the LAPD didn’t do enough to prevent the rapper’s death when he was gunned down in a 1997 drive-by shooting. After going to trial in 2005, the case ended in a mistrial after the LAPD was accused of withholding evidence. The city of Los Angeles was ordered to pay $1.1 million in sanctions.
The criminal investigation into the 1997 death of Wallace has yet to be solved and remains open.
“We run the risk of pursing a case against some people, and later finding out we went after the wrong people," Bradley Gage told the Los Angeles Times. Gage is one of six lawyers representing the Wallace family. “There is benefit to both sides in waiting on this case. Murder has no statute of limitations, so the criminal issues linger on.”
According to the Times, the civil lawsuit estimated the financial losses from the rapper's death could be as much as $500 million.

Dr. Dre's Son Curtis Young Set To Drop "Product Of My DNA"
April 22, 2010 11:04:00 AM CDT by Andres Tardio
When Rap listeners hear "Curtis," thoughts may immediately shift to 50 Cent but another Curtis is ready to make a name for himself. Interestingly enough, this Curtis also has a connection to Aftermath. Curtis Young a/k/a "Hood Surgeon," son of legendary producer Dr. Dre, is prepping the release of his debut, Product of My DNA.
As one might expect, Dr. Dre was an inspiration to the up and comer. Adding some depth, Curtis says meeting his father at 21 truly changed his perspective and made him feel a need to "take over the legacy."
"My world became complete when I finally met my father at the age of 21. I am extremely grateful for my father paving the road for me and many other artists. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to take over a legacy. As a producer, my father has set extremely high standards to existing and upcoming producers all over the globe but my hard and dedicated work will show everyone that I deserve the name Young," he said in a statement.
Young goes on to add that he represents a change in music coming out of Southern California, adding that his company will set some high standards in the genre.
"People can expect a new trendy look from me. I represent a new era of positive feel good music for the West Coast -- I am a new generation of Left Coast artists who can not only rap but produce as well. In the future, my company Young Entertainment Inc, will set high standards and create another element for the Hip Hop world so get familiar!"
Product of My DNA will hit stores this Summer and he plans on showing fans more behind his story.
"For my debut album, you can expect to learn about the making of Curtis Young. The story of actually becoming a product of society. People can expect to hear the true meaning of 'Product Of My DNA' that will let people know who Curtis Young is and how I learned about my father, Dr. Dre."

Do We Like Chris Brown As A Rapper?
Post by Russ Parr in The Urban Daily on Apr 21, 2010 at 3:41 pm
Chris Brown released a new music vid called “Holla At Me” featuring Young Money’s Tyga and yes, he is rapping throughout the whole song.
It actually isn’t that bad, it’s a lift up from his chipmunk vocals. Tyga mentions something about Kat Stacks while spitting an undecipherable verse. The beat is kinda cool, and the kids in the back are dancing their a** off!

B-Real Says Ice Cube Doesn't Owe Anyone Anything
April 21, 2010 12:04:00 PM CDT by Danielle Harling
In an interview with AllHipHop.com, Cypress Hill member B-Real showed his support for fellow West Coast rapper Ice Cube and his stance on local, up and coming rappers. In a recent blog entry, Ice Cube explained that he doesn’t feel it’s his job to help the young, up and coming rappers out of the West Coast.
"He's gotta point man, he don't owe anybody nothing,” B-Real explained. “That's just the reality of it. He doesn't owe them nothing. At the same time, you know, [laughs] it's like, these guys ain't getting no love from the radio, they ain't getting love from nobody. But once and a while we gotta show these guys some love.”
In Cube’s blog, the rapper explained that local Los Angeles rappers “can't make a name for themselves so they need help from the O/G's. I refuse [to] throw 'em a life line…It ain't my job to make nobody famous.”
B-Real, who has had issues with Ice Cube in the past, went on to explain that Ice Cube paid his dues just like everyone else and didn’t receive any help getting to where he is today.
“He didn't get no hand outs. He had to grind for everything. He had to work for everything he has. From the time he was with NWA to when he left. He had to grind out after that,” said B-Real. “He did that. It wasn't like somebody was like 'Hey Cube, here's your spot, go do your thing.' You know so, I think that's a feeling that he's entitled to."

Guru's Family Releases Statement
April 21, 2010 12:04:00 PM CDT by Andres Tardio
In a week that has been filled with many "Rest In Peace" tributes to GURU, after the iconic emcee's passing, his family has decided to release a statement. The statement comes after a letter was issued by GURU earlier this week, one that has been dubbed "GURU's Last Words."
The Elam family's letter thanks GURU's fans and adds that they are heart broken by all that has taken place. It also goes into detail about GUhttp://cherimediagroup.com/cheripie/hiphopdx/news-desk/id.newRU's health issues.
In the letter issued as GURU's Last Words, there is a mention of Each One Counts, a new foundation created before his death. The statement from the family differs from GURU's in that they say they have no knowledge of any foundations established by GURU.
The family's full statement can be read below:
"The Elam family wishes to thank the fans of our son/brother/father uncle/nephew/cousin Keith aka GURU for the outpouring of love, concern and support.
Our hearts are broken by the loss of someone we loved so much. GURU was devoted to his young son, who will most keenly feel his absence.
GURU suffered from multiple myeloma for over a year. Accrued complications from this illness led to respiratory failure and cardiac arrest. As a result, GURU was in a coma from mid February until his death and never regained consciousness. Early on the morning of April 19th, he became hypertensive due to low blood pressure. He again went into cardiac arrest and slipped away from us.
GURU died far too young but he was, and we are, proud of all his many legendary musical contributions.
The family is not aware of any foundations established by GURU. We know and understand that countless fans want to express their condolences and love and, to that end, we are planning a memorial event in the near future that will be all-inclusive. Please look for further details from the family as they become available.

Game Remembers Guru, Clarifies Alchemist "400 Bars" Remarks
April 20, 2010 10:04:00 PM CDT by Jake Paine
This evening, HipHopDX spoke to Game. The Aftermath/Black Wall Street emcee is widely known for helping preserve the legacy of late N.W.A. founder Eric "Eazy E" Wright through songs, interviews and tattoos. Additionally, Game has spoken and rhymed about the losses of Tupac Shakur and Jam Master Jay.
Just hours after the announcement was made of Gang Starr emcee Guru's tragic death to cancer, Game briefly commented about the legendary '80s, '90s and '00s emcee. "That's an ugly situation, man. I'll say a couple quick words, and then we can keep it movin'," began the Compton, California superstar. "Anytime [tragedy] springs up on you, out of nowhere, it hurts. The fact that it's Guru, and I knew nothing about it - or his sickness [to begin with] - some people knew that he was sick, and others had no idea. I'm one of those people that didn't know. So the only thing I can do is mourn like the rest of us and send his family my condolences and wish him well on his journey to Heaven."
On his forthcoming R.E.D. album, due this June, Game was initially hoping to work with Guru's former partner, DJ Premier. While new reports have said that the collaboration remains undone, Game was briefly label-mates with Gang Starr Foundation associates M.O.P. during both's tenures at G-Unit Records.
In the interview, which will be published on DX throughout the rest of April, Game also spoke on last weekend's Twitter dispute with producer/emcee The Alchemist. After listening to Game's "400 Bars" freestyle, released last week, Alchemist (@AlanTheChemist) criticized the 20 minute ode as a "snooze." Game responded with threats towards his former collaborator on Twitter. While Alchemist later reminded press that the two collaborated alongside Prodigy on his 2004 album, 1st Infantry, Game explained his bothered reaction to the hit-maker for Cam'ron, Raekwon and Dilated Peoples.
"You might think I'm just layin' dormant, but I watch," said Game of his @IHateGame Twitter account. "I wasn't even following Alan [on Twitter]. You know how sometimes [things said about you] just pop up on your [Twitter] timeline? It just so happens that something made that pop up."
The emcee says that his Twitterfeed made him aware of Al's quick remark to "400 Bars." "I read it and I'm like, 'Well, why would he say that? I know it's his opinion and whatnot, but I think that I know [Alchemist] good enough, and he knows me good enough to where he knows God-damned well that that freestyle [as '400 Bars'] is a problem." Defending his freestyle and his abilities, Game said, "Let's just say that even if I didn't keep your attention, I still rapped for 20 minutes straight. Don't disrespect my craft, man. That's all I was on."
Clarifying, Game added, "My first comment [was really me saying] 'Come on Al, you know you wouldn't say that to my face. You wouldn't tell me that. So you're gonna do it over the Internet and throw a rock then hide your hands? So that was that day. I ain't really trippin' on Alan, man."
Game's fourth major label album, R.E.D., is presently due June 15 on Aftermath/Star Trak/Interscope Records.

Deceased Pop legend Michael Jackson will be following in the footsteps of Elvis and the Beatles, as his music will be the subject of a Cirque du Soleil production.
According to Billboard, the show will open late next year, and will be followed by a permanent production in Las Vegas in 2012, at a property owned by MGM Mirage, Inc.
"Having attended Cirque du Soleil performances with Michael, I know he was a huge fan," said John Branca, the co-executor of the estate - which will split a 50 percent share of the project and its costs with Cirque - in a statement. "We are excited to be partners with Cirque du Soleil to give Michael's fans a truly unique way to hear, see and feel Michael's music."
Jackson's estate will also receive royalties for the use of his music and other assets. "Our family is thrilled that Cirque du Soleil will pay tribute to my son in such an important way," expressed the late performer's mother, Katherine.

Kid Cudi Changes Album Title, Gets More Personal
April 21, 2010 01:04:00 AM CDT by Edwin Ortiz
After a few months floating around Cudder: The Revolution of Evolution as his sophomore disc title, Cleveland rapper Kid Cudi has now changed the name to Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager.
Taking to his blog, the G.O.O.D. Music artist explained what fans can expect on the new album. “[Man On The MoonII] is dark by nature and instead of bringing you into my dreams like my first album, I’m bringing you into my reality, good and bad. It will explain more of who I am as well as pushing the envelope musically.”
Cudi also stated he has scraped the collaborative theme of Cudder for a project that is more personal as he added, “A lot of you have read the news and think they know Cudi, got some slick shit to say amongst your peers or just flat out hate me but you haven’t the slightest clue of who I am. I will tell the story of Mr. Rager.”
Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager is tentatively scheduled for an August release, with expected features from Chip Tha Ripper and Ratatat.

U.S. Soldier Jailed For Rap Song Discharged
April 20, 2010 12:40:00 AM CDT by Slava Kuperstein
Aspiring rappers should take note - lyrics can carry consequences.
On December 17, 2009 US Army Spc. Marc Hall was jailed for writing a rap song about the affect of being forced to remain in the military longer than his contract stipulated - a result of the US military's stop-loss policy.
Four months later, Spc. Hall was granted a discharge from the military, when he was released on Sunday (April 18) morning.
According to globalresearch.ca, stop-loos is "is a practice that allows the Army to keep soldiers active beyond the end of their signed contracts. According to the Pentagon, more than 120,000 soldiers have been affected by stop-loss since 2001, and currently 13,000 soldiers are serving under stop-loss orders, despite public pledges by President Barack Obama to phase out the policy."
Due to threats of violence in his lyrics, Hall was charged with five specifications in violation of Article 134 of the Uniform Code of Military Conduct. In his lyrics, Hall rapped that he may "go Fort Hood," referencing the mass shooting at Fort Hood on November 5.
Hall explained that he was expressing his frustration about "how people feel about the Army and its stop-loss policy. I explained that the song was neither a physical threat nor any threat whatsoever. I told him it was just Hip Hop."
Hall's civilian attorney, David Gespass, is of the opinion that the military's decision to ship Hall to Kuwait to be court-martialed was extreme. "Not just the Constitution, but the rules for courts-martial, prohibit prosecutors from holding a court-martial in a combat zone as a pretext for depriving an accused of a public trial, counsel of his choice and necessary witnesses," explained Gespass.
"While I’m gratified that the Army finally decided to discharge Marc, I’m appalled at the disregard it has shown for Marc’s well-being and fundamental rights for nine months," said Gespass in a press release. "Whatever lip service the Army gives to its concern for its soldiers, its only real concern is insuring they risk their lives without questioning why. Marc's greatest transgression was asking that question."
According to Jeff Paterson of Courage to Resist, an Oakland-based organization dedicated to supporting military objectors like Hall, he was jailed "in retaliation for his formal complaint of inadequate mental health services available to him at Fort Stewart. The Army used an angry song that Spc. Hall, a combat veteran of the Iraq War suffering from post-traumatic stress, had produced criticizing the stop-loss policy as the pretext."
As for the discharge, Gespass is simply happy that his client is a free man. "We are very, very happy with the outcome, and I think there’s a good chance we can get him benefits for military related disabilities and we can upgrade the discharge, which is the thing I plan on working on next."

Miss Info Exclusive: Cam’ron and Jim Jones rebuild friendship, Jimmy issues public apology
Mon 19 Apr 2010 - Posted by Miss Info
(Cam, Juelz and Jimmy, “Ballin’” video shoot, 2006, photo by Hasain Rasheed)
Last week I had a conversation with two old friends. But what was remarkable about this wasn’t the fact that they called, or even what we talked about….what really meant something is that, for the first time in over three years, these two guys were calling me together…
“Minya, it’s Jimmy….I’m sitting in the passenger seat of this car right now. I want you to talk to the driver real quick.”
“Ok, Jimmy.”
[brief pause] “What up, Min. It’s Cam…”
Yes!! Now we’re finally getting somewhere…Before I could start grilling them about the who/what/where/why/when….Jimmy made it very clear that he had to get something off his chest, with Cam right there…
Jim Jones said: “It’s 2010, and this is something I gotta get off my chest…You’ve known us from back when we didn’t have what we have now, so you remember, that above all, me and Cam, we still brothers. And we’re building on getting back on track but first, I apologize for being a rude brother, for saying things publicly without first trying to handle them privately. I apologize for not leading by example because what I didn’t realize at the time, I was venting but it wasn’t all about me. There were other people whose dreams were also part of this movement. So by not leading by example, they were left stranded too. The way I handled our business issues was with emotion, and it got totally f–ked up. That’s what selfishness does….”
read the rest after the jump
Jim Jones (cont.): “…I have demons that I’m learning to deal with. We’re all successful, me and Cam and Juelz, so we’re blessed. But that comes with responsibilities. I had complaints and I’m not backing away from the issues I had, but I’m just mad at how I handled them. The business of the Diplomats could have been fixed before. But by putting my emotions out in the public, it only made things worse. And of course, some of us became bitter about it. We had this luxurious life, but the rest of the family, they had slow down because of the ball I started rolling. I’d be pissed at me too…
But God works in mysterious ways…a couple people took vacations, and there’s a lane that’s wide open. What we built solo since Dipset grew apart, we can combine and make even stronger together. I needed to clear my conscious before we work on building a bigger and better movement. Plus, consider it fair warning to everyone else.”
When Cam got back on the phone, he was definitely more pragmatic and cautious with his words.
Cam’ron: “There’s nothing really Diplomats-related to show you yet. We all have our own obligations right now, our own projects. I have this Boss of All Bosses Pt. 2.5 mixtape with Vado and DJ Drama dropping soon. But yes, me and Jim have been speaking, we’re working out the mechanics of this, and looking at our options right now. If it makes sense, it can happen.”
Ok, so no speeding, Dipset fans. Let’s not call it a “reunion” just yet. But this is still progress, especially since the last time the subject came up.
Tracing the history of the Dipset split and the rollercoaster ride that followed, it always felt like the main problem was a communication disconnect. Two brothers who stopped talking to each other and just talked at one another. The lack of communication prompted Jimmy to air out his gripes about Cam. Third Diplomats member, Juelz tried to stay neutral but without dialogue he eventually walked off on his own. The public comments made Cam so disillusioned with his own crew that he walked away. Then everyone started moving dolo: alliances were made and concert appearances, and reactions followed. Time passed…and MTV reported that Cam and Jimmy spoke. But then Jimmy backed away. It was 2 steps forward, 3 steps back. But then last March, Jimmy offered another peace pipe to Cam on the Funk Flex Show.
“…if Cam is listening, maybe we can sit down and get some business together and…give the people what they want.”
And it’s true. Through it all, that is still what “the people” have always wanted. They want to see Killa Cam and Jim Jones, in a stretch limo with a hottub in the trunk, Juelz Santana on deck with a bandana on…all rhyming over a Kanye West or Just Blaze beat with a good sped-up sample; ) I don’t want it if its just a series of .wav files sent via AIM. I want 5H. But I’ll even take a couple guys who have grown out of 5H, having a couple drinks and reliving the struggle they came through, and enjoying the chemistry that they still share.

Cam'ron And Jim Jones Reconcile After Public Apology
April 20, 2010 06:04:00 AM CDT by Rashad Phillips
Miss Info reports that last week, she received phone call from one-time Diplomats co-CEO Jim Jones featuring a public apology to Cam'ron and likely ending the three-year rift within the crew. In a conversation, which apparently took place in Cam'ron's car, Jones claims responsibility for the rift between himself and Cam, saying, "The business of the Diplomats could have been fixed before. But by putting my emotions out in the public, it only made things worse. And of course, some of us became bitter about it."
With each member now focusing on solo projects, Cam'ron added that no new material has been recorded, but he and Jones were "working out the mechanics" to see what could happen.
So far, there has been no word from Juelz Santana. During a 2008 interview with HipHopDX, Juelz voiced his displeasure over how his Def Jam contract was handled, but also remained hopeful things could be resolved.
"I tell people, there’s no hard feelings with Cam" Juelz said. "The business wasn’t right so I couldn’t continue, but it’s still Diplomats for life. I always tell fans it was the business that wasn’t right. As some of the fans get older, I hope they’ll understand that. I hope everything does come to a place where we can get back together in a room and do what we gotta do. But as of now, it is what it is."
DX will provide more news on the possible reunion of the Diplomats as it becomes available. Miss Info's entire call with Cam'ron and Jim Jones is available here.

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Browns running back Chris Jennings has been released from jail while authorities determine whether to file charges over allegations he hit a bouncer outside a Cleveland nightclub.
Jennings was arrested early Saturday morning.
John O'Brien, a spokesman with the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department, says Jennings is accused of punching the bouncer in the mouth because he refused to allow Jennings' friend inside without proper attire.
O'Brien says the case has been turned over to the county prosecutor's office. It will determine whether to file an assault charge.
Browns general manager Tom Heckert says the team is aware of the situation and that it won't comment until it has all pertinent information. It's not clear whether Jennings has an attorney.
Jennings rushed for 220 yards and scored one touchdown as a rookie last season.

Nicki Minaj Speaks On Abusive Father and Sexuality
April 19, 2010 12:04:00 PM CDT by Andres Tardio
It may seem as though Nicki Minaj is all glamor, with a Barbie-inspired theme to her image. Her accented delivery and unique personality has made her one of the most talked about Rap stars of 2010, despite having never released a solo album. With a recent Fader cover-story, fans are still just getting to know the voice behind the accent, and the face behind the eyeshadow and lipstick.
It has been this way since she started gaining notoriety as part of Lil Wayne's Young Money crew. But, recently Minaj opened up to Details magazine about life before the stardom, of the violent scenes her father once caused and of her bi-sexuality, speaking on homophobia in Hip Hop.
"I think the world is getting more gay-friendly, so Hip Hop is too. But it's harder to imagine an openly gay male rapper being embraced. People view gay men as having no street credibility. But I think we'll see one in my lifetime," she told the magazine, admitting that she is openly bi-sexual.
She later went on to speak about her father's abusive nature, detailing one story where she was relieved that her mother escaped from their home, after her dad set it on fire.
"He drank a lot and did drugs, and he would get violent when he did. When he set fire to the house, he was attempting to kill my mother. She got out before it burned all the way down. I've always had this female-empowerment thing in the back of my mind—because I wanted my mother to be stronger, and she couldn't be. I thought, 'If I'm successful, I can change her life.'"

Lloyd Banks Talks Possible Return To Interscope
April 19, 2010 12:04:00 AM CDT by Slava Kuperstein
Lloyd Banks claims that Interscope is hoping to get him back onto their roster, but the G-Unit soldier isn't having it - unless he gets an apology.
In an interview with Philadelphia radio personality Cosmic Kev, the "Beamer, Benz or Bentley" rapper explained the situation. "50 [Cent] heard from them," said Banks. "They calling right now trying to figure out how to get the boy back in the building. They have to drop the apology bag first. You can drop that bag and say, 'I'm sorry. I will never ever doubt you again.' That's just a contract to talk. So it's still not solidified. Then I might just take it and go get a little drop and something."
Banks' first Aftermath release was the platinum-selling The Hunger for More, which was also well-received critically. Banks was also a part of several G-Unit releases, and released a second album, Rotten Apple. His sophomore effort did not do nearly as well - commercially or critically.
Lloyd Banks is currently releasing projects independently and remains a member of G-Unit.
