Deceased Pop legend Michael Jackson will be following in the footsteps of Elvis and the Beatles, as his music will be the subject of a Cirque du Soleil production.

According to Billboard, the show will open late next year, and will be followed by a permanent production in Las Vegas in 2012, at a property owned by MGM Mirage, Inc.

"Having attended Cirque du Soleil performances with Michael, I know he was a huge fan," said John Branca, the co-executor of the estate - which will split a 50 percent share of the project and its costs with Cirque - in a statement. "We are excited to be partners with Cirque du Soleil to give Michael's fans a truly unique way to hear, see and feel Michael's music."

Jackson's estate will also receive royalties for the use of his music and other assets. "Our family is thrilled that Cirque du Soleil will pay tribute to my son in such an important way," expressed the late performer's mother, Katherine.
