Bun B Shares His 2015 Oscar Predictions [VIDEO]

Veteran rhymer Bun B is not only a southern rap icon, he’s also a true renaissance man — he’s an educator, a foodie, a sneakerhead and a movie buff. So it’s only right the Trill OG discusses all things Oscars and predict the winners on the big night.

The Texas native ran down his picks on who will win the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Picture and Best Original Song trophies at the 2015 Academy Awards with Fader. But before he got started, Bun wanted to express his disappointment that The Lego Movie didn’t get nominated in the Best Picture category.

“The Lego Movie not being in the Best Picture category is a tragedy. It might have been one of the best movies made in the past 10 years,” he attests.

As for his best film pick, Bun loved The Grand Budapest Hotel for its overall storytelling and visual style. But the ‘Get Throwed’ rapper believes Boyhood will take home the golden statue.

For Best Actor, Bun went with everybody’s choice, Michael Keaton, for Birdman. The rapper admitted that he’s a huge fan of the actor since the early days when he starred in the 1982 classic comedy Night Shift. In the Best Actress category, he goes out on a limb and chooses Marion Cotillard for Two Days, One Night for her track record of picking great roles in movies.

Finally, Bun B’s pick for Best Original Song is “Glory” by John Legend and Common, which is featured in the MLK movie, Selma.

“I literally texted Common after the Golden Globes victory and I told him to get another good tux ready because you going have to sing this [song] at the Oscars,” he said. “There’s no way you aren’t going to sing this at the Oscars and there’s no way you aren’t going home without the Oscar.”

We have to see if Bun B’s predictions will come true when the 2015 Academy Awards air on ABC this Sunday (Feb. 22) at 7PM ET.
