YG Opens Up About 'My Krazy Life,' Comparisons to Dr. Dre's 'The Chronic'

YG has great expectations. As he prepares for the release of his debut album, ‘My Krazy Life,’ on March 18, the West Coast rapper is already fending off comparisons to another classic album, Dr. Dre’s ‘The Chronic.’

“I’m like what you mean?” shared YG excitedly about being compared to Dre’s opus during a Def Jam phone conference Wednesday (March 12) . “That’s what they telling me.”

From SXSW in Austin, Texas, the rapper thanked DJs on the call for supporting his hit ‘My Hitta’ as well as his new single ‘Who Do You Love?’ with Drake. “N—-s can relate to my lifestyle and what I’m rapping about on my album,” he said of what to expect from ‘My Krazy Life.’

Jeezy hopped on the call briefly to applaud his protege and collaborator. The Corporate Thugz Entertainment leader recalled meeting YG in the club after hearing his name buzzing in the streets of Los Angeles “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen somebody [like that],” said Jeezy about the neophyte’s heat. The Snowman has high hopes for YG and even dubbed him the next “King of L.A.”

“These rap n—-s… it’s feeling kind of soft,” said YG about the rap landscape. “All my s—, It’s where the s— started from. The streets… My album is that. I’m giving you that. Where I come from.”

The effort will feature songs like ‘I Just Wanna Party’ with TDE members ScHoolboy Q and Jay Rock, ‘Really Be (Smokin’ N Drinkin’)’ alongside Kendrick Lamar and ‘Sorry Momma’ with an assist from Ty Dolla $ign.
