Miguel has teamed up with Wale to rework Elton John’s classic pop song ‘Bennie and the Jets.’ The duo’s cover tune will appear on the “Super Deluxe” reissue of John’s 1973 album, ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,’ which drops on March 25.

Unlike the original version, Miguel and Wale’s song is more bass-heavy and John’s catchy piano line is slightly distorted. And, of course, there’s a rap from Folarin.

On the track, Miguel sings about a female artist who is being overwhelmed by the glitz and glamor of the music business.

Meanwhile, Wale recites a cautionary verse about the price of fame in the music biz.

“You believe in luck or religion, babe? / ‘Cause either way, you’re going to need it now,” he raps. “They are going to build you up so they can brake you down / Cry tears of joy so they can see you drown / Chew you up only to spew you out / You’re now the victim of the abusive crowd.”

Miguel and Wale are not the first artists to cover the piano man’s classic tune. Legendary rhymer Biz Markie performed a rendition of it on the ‘Chris Rock Show’ in 2000.

The massive box set of Elton John’s ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ features song covers by pop stars like Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande and Fall Out Boy.
